1.3.2 Building Energy Consumption

Building energy consumption takes into account the COP of the HVAC system for both heating and cooling to estimate the total energy to be used by the HVAC system, lights and equipment.
Cooling energy consumption is the amount of energy used by the HVAC system to deal with the cooling loads of building, i.e. removing heat from thermal zones.
Heating energy consumption is the amount of energy used by the HVAC system to deal with the heating loads in building, i.e. adding heat to thermal zones.
The COP for both cooling and heating is adjustable in the fields below the annual total building energy consumption by type (considering HVAC COP) chart, according to the information of the HVAC system to be implemented potentially. Note that the COP values used in this workbook are only references based on typical domestic split-unit air-conditioner used in Singapore and China.
