1.3.4 Net Purchased Electricity

Annual net purchased electricity is calculated by subtracting AC electricity produced by PV from the sum of lighting loads and equipment loads, i.e. assuming the electricity generated by PV on-site is used to offset electricity demand.
Note that the net purchased electricity calculation does not include the energy used by the HVAC system for cooling and heating as they could be using non-electricity source of energy, such as fuel or natural gas, depending on the HVAC system implemented.
The color legend as used in this dashboard indicates that those hours in blue-ish color are the ones when there is surplus electricity generated from PV, i.e. PV energy is larger than the electricity demand, whereas those hours in gray color are the ones when electricity generated from PV does not meet the electricity demand of that hour, or when there is no power output from PV.
