1.3.3 Energy Produced by PV
The AC electricity produced by the photovoltaic (PV) modules as defined in the energy model in EnergyPlus is calculated by multiplying the DC electricity produced by the PV and the DC/AC inverter efficiency as specified in the model.
The reduction in annual electricity utility cost is estimated based on local electricity tariff which is adjustable. The reduction in annual utility cost due to the offset of the electricity produced from PV for a typical residential flat of 100m2 is also calculated accordingly.
The reduction in annual total CO2 emission is estimated by referring to the emission factor as published by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. It provides an estimation on the equivalent reduction in CO2 emission for the reduction in energy use.
Note that the following output variables shall be specified in the IDF file so that this and the next templates in the Tableau workbook as provided can read the output related to energy generation and net purchased electricity (not necessarily in this order):
