1.3.6 Net Building Energy Use Intensity (nEUI)

• • •

Net building energy use intensity (nEUI) is calculated as the GFA normalized net building energy use, i.e. the net energy use per unit floor area for the building been simulated.

This is a commonly used energy performance indicator in comparative study on building energy efficiency across different building forms or design scenarios implementing different design strategies to minimize building energy use, taking into account the clean energy generated on-site.

Note that this is only the site energy use intensity. Source energy use intensity can potentially be calculated by applying the Site to Source Energy Conversion Factors as specified in EnergyPlus.
